BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WECT) -

Leaders in Boiling Spring Lakes are taking further action related to problems with water levels and flooding in the city.

The city has hired a new employee to work on some of those issues.

William "Bill" Murphy will start next month in the newly created role of city engineer.

Murphy, who has more than 30 years of experience in the private sector, will earn $75,000 a year while working for Boiling Spring Lakes.

The city recently eliminated the Public Works Director position and paid thousands of dollars to bring in an outside engineering firm to study the water level issues and drainage problems along Spring Lake.
