Deanna Smith has been missing for more than a month. The 15-year-old ran away from her home in Wilmington after a fight with her father, according to detectives with the Wilmington Police Department.

Since Smith left on June 25, police have been trying to locate her. WPD detective Peter Oehl is leading the search.

Oehl believes the teenager ran away with no access to money, a cell phone, a computer, or a car.

"One of the things we worry about is since we haven't heard from her and no one that knows her has heard from her, you know your mind starts to go well could something have happened," Oehl said.

Oehl said he's spoken to all of Smith's known friends and family and none of them have seen the teenager recently. Oehl said all of the leads the department had, have been exhausted.

"We're still looking for her as though she's alive and well," Oehl stated.

The detective said he's trying to remain optimistic, despite the fact that no new tips have been coming in.

"We're gonna continue to look for her just like any other child that's missing or that has run away. We're going to continue to look for her- follow up on leads," Oehl explained. "We are going to give everything we've got that we can give."

WPD detectives have contacted the Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Smith's disappearance.

Oehl asks anyone with information related to Smith's disappearance to please contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609 or send a tip to Text-A-Tip at (CRIMES)274637 then start the message with Tip708 and then type the tip.
