(CNN) - New details are emerging in the Veterans Affairs healthcare scandal.

About half of the schedulers at multiple VA hospitals say supervisors told them to lie about wait times for patients trying to see doctors, according to an internal VA audit.

The schedulers say they falsified reports to make their centers look better so top officials could get bonuses.

The VA says it will discipline six employees as a result of the audit.

This report comes as congress is considering a bill to fix problems at the department.

On Tuesday, the senate approved a new VA chief, Robert McDonald.

McDonald takes the place of Eric Shinseki, who resigned in May over the scandals.
