Wilmington leaders gathered Tuesday morning to talk about the impact climate change could have on the community.
Leaders talked about the impacts on underserved parts of the area, in addition to key impacts like storm surge and extreme weather.
They plan to encourage national and state leaders to support strong carbon pollution standards for power plants. These standards will improve the health and well-being of future generations.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is taking public comment on its Clean Power Plan, which establishes the nation's first-ever limits on carbon pollution from existing power plants.
Emissions from power plants are the largest single source of carbon pollution in the U.S.
