Human trafficking suspect Drequan Dugar was temporarily transferred to the Brunswick County Detention Center to face misdemeanor larceny charges.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -
A man accused of human trafficking now faces more charges. According to Deputy Brothers with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Drequan Dugar was temporarily transferred to the Brunswick County Detention Center for misdemeanor larceny charges.
Brothers said Dugar was wanted for the charges in Brunswick County before he was arrested on human trafficking charges in New Hanover County back in February.
According to Sheriff Ed McMahon, the victim in the human trafficking case is a New Hanover County Schools student who is under the age of 16.
After a four day investigation, authorities arrested Drequan Dugar, 19, and charged him with four felonies including human trafficking.
The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office has confirmed Dugar as a gang member.
Deputy Brothers said Dugar will eventually be returned to the New Hanover County Detention Center after facing charges in Brunswick County.
