Officials investigate fatal accident in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Officials in Columbus County are investigating a fatal accident that happened around 10 p.m. Friday on Smyrna Road, north of Whiteville.

According to Sgt. Lewis with the State Highway Patrol, Cornelius Anthony Bobby Inman Jr. was driving around a curve when he overcorrected, swerved off the road and hit a tree.

Inman was taken to Columbus Regional Health where he later died.

Officials said no drugs or alcohol involved.
