Bluffton Police set up traffic stops leading to narcotics arrest

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

Bluffton Police Officers on patrol captured a wanted fugitive after observing a vehicle exceeding the speed limit on Buck Island Road around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, July 25th.

The officers stopped the vehicle and observed the occupants acting suspiciously, one of them, James D. Hicks was attempting to hide something in his pants.

After further investigation officers discovered James D. Hicks was in possession of over 180 Hydrocodine and Oxycodone pills.

Hicks was taken into custody and a warrant check was done on the other occupant of the car, Leonard Brown.

Brown had two outstanding warrants for Criminal Domestic Violence and Malicious Injury to property out of Bluffton.

Brown was also taken into custody and both suspects were booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
