GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Like most apartments on the Coast, Village Place has what looks like a nice swimming pool located in the center of the apartment complex.

Last week when I met with residents at the complex, they were complaining that the swimming pool was shut down and kids could only dream how great it would be to jump into a sparkling blue swimming pool on a hot summer day.

A closer look at the swimming pool revealed a green, bubbling pool that needed chemicals or something to clean it up.

"Well, being from New York, it's extremely hot here and I would love to take my kids into the pool," said Village Place resident Amy Measel. "I'm extremely frustrated. That's why I called you."

I asked Measel what she would like done to the pool. Her response was simple.

"I would like a blue sparkling pool. I would like the managers to actually care and get things done," said Measel.

This isn't the first summer that the Village Place swimming pool has been off -limits to its residents.

"Multiple times, both this year and last year, it was also green," said Measel.

I then asked how long it took before complex management fixed the problem.

"They didn't fix it. They closed it," said Measel.

Good news. The next day after I met with apartment residents, Village Place management had the pool cleaned and it's now open for business, but it still has that green color.
