An 8 year-old boy has turned his shoe obsession and upcoming birthday into a chance to give back to kids in our community.
Gunner Robinson will celebrate his birthday on August 15 and he is asking for 300 pairs of shoes, but not for himself. He plans on donating the shoes to kids in need. He said he's hoping every kid starting school will get a brand new pair for the new school year.
"It would be nice if kids could get new shoes for the school year just like me," said Gunner.
He came up with the idea around Christmas time. His parents were not sure if the idea would stick. But eight months later, it was all Gunner talked about.
"You need shoes otherwise you'd be stepping on everything," said Gunner.
Several stores in the Wilmington area are collecting the shoes for donations.
