TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A 16-year-old Toledo student is dead after a shooting in the 2900 block of Collingwood near Nottingham in central Toledo early Thursday morning.

Neighbors say they heard shots fired around 3 a.m.  When police arrived at the scene, they found Tyler McIntoush had been fatally shot. McIntoush was about to enter his junior year at the Maritime Academy of Toledo.

"I'm not going to ever see my son again. I'm not going to ever see his big smile – his big Kool-aid smile – I'm not going to ever see him laugh, I ain't going to see him turn into a man. I ain't going to see nothing no more. They took my baby. They took a role model kid and killed him," said Tyler's father, Johnny McIntoush.

McIntoush says his wife came home from work early Thursday morning and realized their son was not home. Then they heard of a murder just a few blocks away.

"It's unbelievable," McIntoush said. "This is not happening. I'm waiting to wake up and this be over with."

He says in addition to being a student, Tyler played snare drum for the school and worked at Netty's.

"Smart kid, stayed out of trouble, smart enough to know to get a job," McIntoush said. "Goes to work, goes to school - he does all of that. I don't know what happened."

This is the 15th homicide in the city this year. Police are currently canvassing the area for additional evidence.  The investigation is ongoing, and police say they have no suspects at this time.

"All I can do is hope and pray they can figure out what happened and get to the bottom of it. That's all I ask," McIntoush said.

He is begging for anyone that knows anything about this crime to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStopper at 419-255-1111.
