BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Five men were arrested in Brunswick County on various drug and gun charges at a license checkpoint Saturday night.

According to officials, Brunswick County's Special Ops Unit was performing a license check near the intersection of Old Shallotte Road and McMilly Road Saturday evening. A car with five men inside approached the checkpoint.

Authorities searched the men and found oxycodone, cocaine, heroin, and handguns.

Delonne Watts, 25, of Longwood was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and is currently in the Brunswick County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.

Jarvis Alonzo Davis, 34, of Wilmington was arrested and charged with:

  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (89 bags of heroin)
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (8 grams of cocaine)
  • felony manufacture of cocaine
  • possession of a schedule II controlled substance (10mg of oxycodone)
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • possession of a firearm by a felon
Davis is in the Brunswick County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Aveon Lasha Slappy, 19, of Bolivia was arrested and charged with:
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (89 bags of heroin)
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (8 grams of cocaine)
  • felony manufacture of cocaine
Slappy is currently in the Brunswick County Jail under a $6,000 secured bond.

Steven Thomas Hansford III, 25, of Hallsboro was arrested and charged with:

  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (89 bags of heroin)
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (8 grams of cocaine)
  • felony manufacture of cocaine
  • possession of a schedule II controlled substance (10mg of oxycodone)
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • possession of a firearm by a felon
Hansford's bond was set at $5,000 and he has since bonded out of jail.

Bradley Christopher Griffin, Jr., 29, of Longwood was arrested and charged with:
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (89 bags of heroin)
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance (8 grams of cocaine)
  • felony manufacture of cocaine
  • possession of a schedule II controlled substance (10mg of oxycodone)
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • possession of a firearm by a felon
Griffin's bond was set at $30,000 and he has since bonded out of jail.
