Crews with the city of Wilmington are applying temporary pavement and patches on Water Street between Princess and Walnut Streets.
City officials say this project is part of the city's streets maintenance program. The road will receive permanent pavement as part of phase II of the Riverfront Park project, which is expected to begin in late 2015.
There will be intermittent, temporary lane closures on Water Street while the paving is underway, but traffic flow will be maintained.
Officials say the project is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
