Man wanted in girlfriend's shooting surrenders to police

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Danielle Morrisey, 31, wanted in connection to his girlfriend's shooting over the weekend, turned himself in to Onlsow County authorities after receiving a call from Sheriff Ed Brown.

According to the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was dispatched to Onslow Memorial Hospital around 1:45 a.m. Sunday to investigate a gunshot wound victim.

Upon arrival, the deputy found the victim with a gunshot wound in the upper portion of her arm.

According to the victim, Morrisey accused her of having an affair with her ex-boyfriend. The victim said that Morrisey took a gun out a dresser drawer, pointed it at her and fired.

After the shooting, Morrisey took the victim to the hospital.

According to officials, Sheriff Ed Brown called Morrisey and convinced him to turn himself in at the Onslow County Sheriff's Office.

Morrisey is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and inflicting serious bodily injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.
