Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating a shooting in the Houston Moore housing complex Saturday afternoon that sent one man to the hospital.
According to Lt. Fanta with the WPD, the incident took place around 4:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of S. 15th Street.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, Lawrence Boyle, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Boyle said that he had been shot while observing an argument between two people.
Police found several shell casings in the area and a car that was hit by several bullets as well.
Boyle was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injury.
The WPD is continuing their investigation.
