WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -
A serious accident on North Kerr Avenue near the Wilmington airport sent five people to the hospital Thursday morning.
According to officials, a black car was heading north on N. Kerr Ave. near Control Tower Drive when it veered left of center and struck a Bronco head on.
Kari Reed, the driver of the black car, and her two children, a 5-year-old boy and 8-month-old girl, were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Reed underwent surgery and is listed in fair condition.
Hospital officials said the two children in her car were transported to UNC hospital in Chapel Hill.
The two passengers in the Bronco, brothers James and Thomas Brown, were also transported to NHRMC with serious injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Police are still investigating the crash and said that neither cell phone use or alcohol were factors in the accident. The accident is still under investigation.
