Columbus Co. shooting victim identified, police still investigating

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A male shooting victim in Columbus County was taken to the hospital Sunday night, officials say.

According to Major Bobby Worley of the Columbus County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call just before 11 p.m. about a man shot at the intersection of Carver Moore Road and Old Northeast Road north of Lake Waccamaw.

The victim has been identified as Joshua Blanks, 23, of Pocosin Road in Lake Waccamaw. Blanks was taken to Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville where he underwent emergency surgery Sunday night.

Blanks' is in stable condition at this time.

Officials are still investigating the incident and haven't named any suspects.
