Spartanburg County deputies said a woman was charged after she tried to sell a trucker a GPS unit that had been stolen from his rig.
Deputies said they there called to the TA Travel Center on Highway 290 in Duncan on Saturday evening after a trucker reported that a Garmin GPS unit and a blue cell phone had been stolen from his truck while he was inside a neighboring fuel station.
The clerk at the fuel station told the trucker he had seen a woman exit the truck and walk to the truck stop across the street.
At the TA Travel Center, the trucker told deputies he spotted the woman with the phone and the GPS. He asked the TA clerk to call his phone number, and said the phone the woman was carrying began to ring, according to reports.
After that, the trucker called 911, and said while he was waiting for deputies to arrive, the woman attempted several times to sell him the GPS unit for $75.
Deputies said the investigation warranted enough evidence to charge the woman, Tamera Jo Bryant, with one count of petit larceny and breaking into a motor vehicle. She was also ticketing for trespassing at the TA Travel Center after notice.
Deputies said the GPS and the phone were returned to the trucker.
Bryant remains in custody at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
