UPDATE: Teen charged with shooting man in chest

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A Brunswick County teen is charged with shooting a man in the chest.

According to arrest warrants, 17-year-old Alexander Lamont Grissett shot Bryan Tyrone Goodwin, Jr. Sunday morning with a handgun. Officials said Goodwin was hit in the chest.

According to the Director of Emergency Services, Goodwin was airlifted to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Brunswick County Sheriff's officials said the shooting happened in the 2100 block of Seashore Hills Road.

Warrants also show that on Sunday morning, between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Grissett reportedly broke into a home in the 1800 block of Hillcrest Drive in Supply.  According to the arrest warrants, two people were home at the time.

The 17-year-old was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill or inflict serious injury and first degree burglary. 

Officials with the Brunswick County Sheriff's office said that the shooting was in connection to a dispute between neighbors.
