Police: Suspects took cash, alcohol and cigarettes

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Police responded to an armed robbery at 1199 South 5th Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a man and woman met up downtown for the fireworks show.

On the way home from the show, the two individuals were approached by three male suspects at 5th and Mears Street, one of which pointed a small gun at the male victim and demanded money.

The victim handed the suspects a small amount of cash, some alcohol they had just purchased, a pack of cigarettes, and the male victim's phone.

After taking the items the suspects fled on foot, followed by the woman with the male victim who ran after them. According to the male victim the woman never returned after running after the suspects.

The three suspects were wearing all black clothing and had bandanas on their faces at the time of the incident.
