Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident that sent one woman to the hospital Saturday night.
According to Lt. Blanton with the WPD, officials received a call that a woman in her 20s arrived at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound shortly before 11 p.m.
Police say the victim, 22-year-old Jaquelle Parker, was the passenger in a black Nissan Altima that was traveling on Darlington Avenue between Market Street and Covil Avenue.
Parker told police they were dropping someone off in the Market North Apartments when they approached a large group of people and heard several gunshots.
According to Blanton, the bullet traveled through the car door and struck the woman in the leg.
Parker has since been treated and released from the hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
According to Blanton, there is no suspect information at this time.
