Shelter opens at Burgaw Middle School

BURGAW, NC (WECT) -

The American Red Cross and Pender County officials will open a shelter at Burgaw Middle School at 2 p.m. Thursday in anticipation of Hurricane Arthur.

According to the American Red Cross, the shelter is pet friendly and located at 500 S. Wright Street in Burgaw.

Things to bring to the shelter:

  • Prescriptions and emergency medications
  • Foods that meet unusual dietary requirements
  • Identification to show residence is in affected area and important personal documents
  • Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
  • Supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys
  • Special items for family members who are elderly or disabled
  • Chargers for any electronic devices that you bring with you
  • Books, games and other ways to entertain your family or yourself
