Crews with the City of Wilmington are out Thursday making final preparations for Hurricane Arthur.
Crews will be checking for clogged storm drains in certain problem areas and will be placing barricades at streets that are prone to flooding.
The city is also positioning equipment and crews to respond as needed tonight and tomorrow.
The City of Wilmington would like to remind citizens to secure roll-away trash cans and recycling carts. They can become projectiles in heavy winds. Citizens are also encouraged to clear any yard debris so storm drains aren't blocked.
Trash, recycling, and yard waste pickup will run on schedule today, July 3 and on Friday, July 4.
Wilmington's downtown riverwalk fireworks celebration will be held as scheduled.
