BOLTON, NC (WECT) -

Police officers in Bolton have some new wheels after the Wilmington Police Department donated two of their police cars Tuesday morning to the Bolton Police Department.

Bolton Police Chief Edward Gillim said he is very appreciative of the gift.

"We're a small agency and just for a bigger agency to reach out to us means a lot to us," Gillim explained.

The town of Bolton is 3.1 miles in diameter with about 1000 residents.

The Bolton Police Department was operating with a single officer back in 2012. The agency now has four police officers, but is still working to expand their force to increase safety in Bolton.

"With the help of these cars it really adds to the town," Gillim said.
