A tropical system developing south of Wilmington could dampen Fourth of July plans, but tourism officials said they are waiting, watching, and hoping for the best.
Several tourism officials said it's too soon to tell, but right now they aren't very worried about the weather scaring off tourists; however, the assistant manager at Staybridge said his hotel is taking steps to make sure if severe weather does hit, they'll be ready.
"We're starting to make those proper preparations now, making sure that we have the proper water and things of that nature for everyone," Freeman said.
Freeman said there have been no cancellations at his hotel just yet.
Several other hotels in the area said they also haven't had any cancellations either; however, if the storm picks up, hotel officials said they expect to start getting canceled reservations around Wednesday.
