Waffle House throws down waffle gauntlet before USA’s World Cup match vs. Belgium

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Waffle House and Belgium both have one thing in common: their famous waffles. But on the eve of the Belgium and United States World Cup match, Waffle House has drawn a line in the syrup about where the similarities end.

Monday, the 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year, American breakfast eatery unleashed the tweet that has had more than 5,000 retweets since its original tweet just before 9 a.m. Simply put, Waffle House believes American made waffles are better than Belgium made waffles.

The United States Men's National Team takes on Belgium Tuesday at 4. If USA wins they will advance to the quarterfinal match against the winner of Argentina vs. Switzerland.

Could we see another round of tweets from Californian wine makers against the Argentinean's or perhaps Hershey's will take on Switzerland on which county makes the best chocolate? Time will only tell.
