WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department are searching for a puppy thief after someone broke into a home and stole ten puppies.

Police responded to reports of a breaking and entering at 100 block of Mears Street Sunday afternoon.

When officers arrived, a woman said someone broke into her home and stole ten puppies. The victim said she went on Facebook and found the puppies for sale.

She made arrangements to meet the seller at Walmart and buy the puppies back. When she arrived, she spoke with the man and noticed the puppies were still in the same box that they were in at her home.

The victim grabbed the puppies and went back to her home. She was able to get a photo of the suspect.

Wilmington Police are looking for Michael Hines, 23, of Navassa and have obtained warrants for felony breaking and entering and larceny of a k9.
