2,000 gallons of wastewater overflow into Pages Creek

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Approximately 2,000 gallons of wastewater poured into Pages Creek as a result of a sanitary sewer overflow that happened on Friday night.

According to a press release from the CFPUA, crews responded to, and stopped the overflow near the Country Haven Pump station in the Ogden area around 6:20 p.m. Friday.

Repairs have since been made to stop the leak.

CFPUA Environmental Management staff members have conducted water quality testing at various locations at and around the site and initial results are expected within the next 24 hours. 

This incident is under further investigation by CFPUA and has been reported to the North Carolina Division of Water Quality.
