LAS VEGAS, June 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- World Book, Inc., a leading publisher of print and digital education and reference materials, today announced at the American Library Association's Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV, the SPINESCAPE® design for the forthcoming 2015 edition of The World Book Encyclopedia®, today's quintessential English-language print general encyclopedia.

"World Book's aim is to deliver the most accessible and engaging educational products and services whenever, wherever, and however educators, parents, and students want them. The World Book Encyclopedia plays an important role in ensuring that trustworthy, reliable, and readable information is accessible in schools, libraries, and homes in the U.S. and Canada and throughout the English-language world," says World Book, Inc. President Don Keller.

The 2015 Spinescape, "The Lure of Learning," features a striking image of bees seeking nourishment from a flower and represents the human desire for knowledge. "Bees depend on flowers to provide them with sustenance. So, too, do readers depend on The World Book Encyclopedia to provide them with the accurate and concise information needed to develop a better understanding of their world," remarked Paul Kobasa, World Book's Vice President, Editorial and Editor in Chief.

The World Book Encyclopedia 2015 will be published in December 2014 and will include thousands of new, revised, and expanded articles spanning recent and historical events, important world leaders and other notable people, scientific discoveries, and pop culture--among many others: Ukraine and Crimea, Vladimir Putin, Saint John XXIII and Saint John Paul II, activist Julian Assange, entertainers Eminem, Taylor Swift, Jackie Chan. The new edition was created with the collaboration of expert contributors, advisers, editors, and researchers and incorporates more than 25,000 photographs, maps, and illustrations, as well as dozens of QR codes that link to complementary video content.

The World Book Encyclopedia 2015 is available for pre-publication purchase. School and library customers may order by contacting their local World Book Educational Sales Consultant at 800-975-3250 (U.S.) or 800-837-5365 (Canada).
