WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Film incentives are set to expire at the end of 2014 and the star of the locally filmed comedy Tammy is speaking in favor of keeping them.

Melissa McCarthy is out promoting her new movie set to open July 2. On her promotions tour she sat down with former FOX WILMINGTON anchor Michelle Li to talk about all things film.

During the interview McCarthy said that without film incentives making movies in North Carolina would be near impossible.

"Without them it's like you can't...it's kind of impossible to make a movie, which is unfortunate on every level. But it really, it always comes down to--can you afford to make your movie? You're always pinching pennies, I mean, to the last dime," McCarthy.
