A busy intersection in Wilmington is getting more red lights.
There are two new lights at the at Third and Wooster streets. Officials hope they help drivers notice when the lights turn red.
That intersection see up to 20-thousand cars roll through it daily, making it one of the highest volume areas in the city.
The intersection has also seen its fair share of crashes.
The latest data posted on the city of Wilmington's website says more than 200 were reported between 2000 and 2007.
"The NCDOT is working to make the red light more visible to drivers who are south bound on Third Street," Dylan Lee, with the City of Wilmington, said. "That has been a particular problem for red light running. It's been monitored; we have red light cameras at that intersection and the red light running continues to happen, which is extremely dangerous."
The city is working along with N-C-D-O-T on the project.
