Tabor City man convicted, sentenced in 2013 shooting

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A Tabor City man was convicted Tuesday by a Columbus County jury in a 2013 shooting that erupted over a poker game.

According to officials, Prentice Reaves was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in a shooting that happened on January 5, 2013 at Mary's Arcade in Tabor City.

Officials say the incident happened after Reaves and another man got into an argument over a $5 hand of poker.

Reaves then pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Reaves will serve 3-5 years in prison for the shooting.
