(CNN) – Wondering why Gap employees are wearing white this week?

It's because Gap has made good on its promise to raise the minimum wage, and its encouraging workers to celebrate by wearing white.

The clothing giant raised its hourly pay to $9 company wide, a move they announced back in February. To support the change, Gap is encouraging its employees to wear white and use the hashtag #letsdomore on social media.

The increase isn't just for Gap stores – all brands under the Gap Inc. umbrella, including Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta – are included.

The company plans to raise its minimum wage again to $10 next summer.
