LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) - A new look to Lake City is in the works. The city council is working on getting a few grants to help revitalize town parks and sidewalks.
"We want to do everything we can to make it a nice, clean town and update these parks," said Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan.
Their first project will take place at Nash Street Park where they're wanting to put in a new play set, basketball court and playground equipment. The equipment will be handicap accessible. The park serves as a picnic area as well so new grilling equipment and sitting area will be replaced.
"We're going to put coated benches there that will last a long time," he said. "We'll redo a couple of the BBQ grills that have burnt out."
Plans to finish the walking track near the Senior Citizens housing will also take place with the grant money.
Mayor Milligan said revitalizing and adding to Lake City is part of what keeps the small town going.
"The more stuff we have for people to do and go, the more they'll want to be a part of your city and call it home," he said. "That's what we're after."
