First Alert Forecast: hot, humid pattern supports scattered downpours

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An offshore high pressure system will continue to pump seasonably hot and humid air into the region.

WEDNESDAY: Expect partly sunny skies. Chance of a downpour or storm: 30 - 40%. Highs: mainly lower 90s. Winds: southwest near 10mph.

RAINFALL FOR 2014: Nearing the halfway point of 2014, Wilmington's official rain tally is 21.02", close to its year-to-date average of 22.96".

EXTENDED FORECAST: Summertime! Through Saturday, daily highs mainly in the lower 90s and 30 to 40% daily rain chances will stay common.

TROPICS: New tropical storm development in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea or Gulf of Mexico is unlikely Wednesday.
