Ozan, AR man charged with woman's fatal shooting

NASHVILLE, AR (KSLA) -

An Ozan, Ark. man is behind bars, accused of fatally shooting a woman on Saturday.

Gary Dwayne Swift, 49, was arrested around noon Saturday for allegedly shooting Pamela Harris, 44, of Nashville, Ark. with a small-caliber handgun. The shooting happened about an hour earlier in the 1300 block of South Main Street.

Harris was taken to Howard Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Swift was charged with first-degree murder, terroristic act and felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held on a $500,000 bond. Police have not released a motive or his connection to Harris.

The Nashville Police Department is investigating this incident. The Arkansas State Police, Howard County Sheriff's Department, Hempstead County Sheriff's Department and Mineral Springs Police Department are also assisting with this case.
