Man arrested after breaking into home, relaxing on the couch

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officers arrested and charged a man after responding to a breaking and entering call at 704 Hanover Street Thursday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers arrived to the residence and discovered an unsecured door and a window that was broken out.

Police entered the residence and found a man, Jarmaine Johnson, on the couch. When ordered to show his hands, Johnson initially reached under the couch, however stopped and showed officers his hands.

After securing Johnson, officers looked under the couch and found 1.7 grams of cocaine.

Officers arrested Johnson and charged him with breaking and entering, possession with intent to sell drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson is currently in the New Hanover County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
