First Alert Forecast: Father's Day to have lower rain chances than recent days

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A weak summer cold front will have just enough energy to push through southeastern North Carolina by Father's Day Sunday. The result: slightly drier air and lower rain chances than the previous week. More details now...

FATHER'S DAY SUNDAY: Happy Father's Day! A few patches of fog and haze may exist to begin the day, but expect sunny or partly sunny skies for the most part. Chance of a shower: 10%. Breezes: light and variable. Morning lows: mainly upper 60s. Afternoon highs: mainly mid to upper 80s. UV index: extreme! Rip current risk: low to moderate.

MONDAY: Slightly warmer than Sunday, but rain chances and humidity levels remain low. The dry air mass prevails with highs reaching near 90 degrees and low temperatures in the upper 60s.

TROPICAL UPDATE: Cristina, which had last week been a Category 4 hurricane in the eastern Pacific Ocean, has weakened considerably over cooler water... and this trend will likely continue. In the Atlantic Basin, new tropical storm development is not anticipated through Sunday and Monday.
