WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Firefighters from Wilmington and New Hanover County were called early Friday morning to respond to a house fire on Windemere Road.

According to dispatch, someone called 911 around 4:30 a.m. to report a flames coming from a house at 129 Windemere Road, which is off of Eastwood Road.

The fire was contained to a one-story, brick ranch-style home.

Fire crews saw smoke and flames when they arrived and determined the home was 75% involved. The fire was deemed under control shortly after 5 a.m. It took several hours before firefighters were able to completely put out the fire.

Two people were in the home at the time of the fire and were able to safely escape. No injuries were reported, but the home may be a total loss structurally.

According to officials, the fire was determined to be accidental and started in the garage in the area of the clothes dryer. Damages from the fire have been estimated to be $350,000. Officials consider the home a total loss.
