TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Some Sabino High School students are really upset over what the school did to their high school yearbooks. It's even getting national attention.

School officials taped over more than a dozen senior quotes they deemed inappropriate. There were 13 quotes that were not caught in time by school administrators before being sent to the presses. Some students say it's the "senior prank". But school officials said it's no laughing matter.

So what did they decide to do? They decided to tape over the problem.

Connor Lewelling just graduated from Sabino High a couple of weeks ago. His high school quote is from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"One, trust yourself. Two, break some rules," he said.

His quote apparently didn't raise any eyebrows with school officials because he wasn't one that was taped over like so many.

"I think it's just ridiculous, the quotes aren't even that bad," Lewelling said.

He peeled off some tape covering other quotes. They read:

"I only rap caucasionally."

"Every white girl needs a Mexican best friend."

"Every Mexican needs white best friend."

"You're such a disappointment."

"There are four 420 days until your graduate."

"The Juice is worth the squeeze."

Lewelling said they got their yearbooks during their senior breakfast the day before school ended. He said this made it hard for people to sign his book. A book that's supposed to memorialize his four years a high school.

"I much would have preferred to have it earlier but I'm glad I do have it," he said.

Tucson Unified School District Cara Rene tells Tucson News Now that the yearbook advisor did not follow proper protocols before submitting the books to the presses. She said people can get their $70 refund if they wanted. She also said that from now on, the principal will check the yearbooks before they get printed.
