Auburn's Malzahn to visit Albany next week

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn will be visiting Albany next week.

Malzahn will be in town for the Cleve Wester Endowment Scholarship Golf Tournament and Banquet next Thursday at Stonebridge Golf Club.

The Tigers head coach will be joined by 18 other assistants or former Auburn players to play with Auburn alums and fans.

"Each team is three people and the fourth person in the foursome will be an Auburn player or coach," explains Southwest Georgia Auburn Club secretary Valerie Buchanan. "Some lucky person will get to play with Coach Malzahn."

All the money is raised for the Cleve Wester Endowment Scholarship, which is given to one south Georgia student attending Auburn University.

The scholarship is in honor of Cleve Wester, a former Auburn player and Albany businessman.

The club says having Malzahn attend the event always helps raise money.

"This is his second year coming down in a row," says board member Jamil Saba. "We certainly appreciate him coming to, because it means a lot. It really helps us raise money."
