For the past few weeks, residents in the Carolina Place- Ardmore neighborhoods have been worried about an increase in crime. Monday night they're taking action.
Community residents said they knew they had a problem on their hands, when hearing gun shots became a daily occurrence. They are afraid crime from surrounding communities like Creekwood has started to move near their homes.
Bill Jayne and many of his neighbors are expected to attend Monday night's community meeting.
"It's a big concern. We feel like something needs to be done. We shouldn't just shrug our shoulders and say ah it's like the weather, we can't do anything about it," Jayne said.
The residents have invited city officials and Wilmington Police officers to talk about the current state of their neighborhood.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Temple Baptist Church on Market Street.
