Duo arrested on multiple drug charges after traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Wilmington Police arrested two men on multiple drug charges after a routine traffic stop Saturday evening.

According to police, officers pulled over a vehicle for expired registration. Officers then asked the occupants if they could search the vehicle, which they agreed to.

Officers found a handgun, heroin, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash in the vehicle. 

Police arrested David Williams, 51, and charged him with:

  • felon in possession of a firearm
  • possession of a stolen firearm
  • carrying a concealed weapon
  • heroin possession
  • cocaine possession
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin
  • possession with intent to sell and deliver within 1000 feet of a school
  • drug paraphernalia
Officers also arrested Benjamin Johnson, 31, and charged him with possession of heroin and expired registration.

Williams is under a $300,000 secured bond and Johnson is under a $1,000 secured bond.
