UPDATE: Victim in fatal hit-and-run in Hampstead identified

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

The identity of the man who was fatally hit by a car on Highway 17 in Hampstead early Saturday morning has been released.

According to Pender Highway Patrol, 20-year-old William Randall Todd was walking home from Bonjangles. Todd was walking on the outside southbound lane of Highway 17 near Sloop Point Road when he was hit by car traveling southbound.

The driver of the car drove to the police station to report the incident.

No charges will be filed.
