The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is celebrating World Ocean Day on Sunday.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to participate in hands on activities with shells and sharks and learn about the importance of protecting oceans.
"That Puppet Guy" will have several ocean-themed puppet shows throughout the day. And Steve Gerkin with the NC Zoo will be on hand to share his adventures studying polar bears.
World Oceans Day activities across the globe help people get involved in protecting oceans, such as supporting clean energy choices, trash-free coasts, and sustainable seafood.
The event started in 2002 and was officially recognized by the United Nations in 2008.
