One man is recovering from injuries after a water rescue at Wrightsville Beach. Lifeguards pulled an unconscious swimmer out of the water Saturday afternoon.
Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue officials found the victim with cuts and abrasions on his head and a spinal injury. According to Ocean Rescue Captain Jeremy Owens, the victim is a 40-year-old man and was found 300 feet north of the pier. Officials said it appeared the victim had hit his head on a sandbar.
The victim was transported to New Hanover Medical Regional Center. There's no word on his condition. Stay with WECT for the latest information on this developing story.
