First Alert Forecast: drier this weekend, rain chances increase next week

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Rain chances will continue to trend down into the weekend.

WEEKEND FORECAST: A weak cool front drifts further south as a high builds over the mid Atlantic.  Look for mostly to partly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid to upper 60s.  Rain chance is 10% Saturday, mainly south of Wilmington and 10% on Sunday.  Overall a very good forecast.

MARINE FORECAST: Easterly winds will persist for the weekend with our front south of the area.  Look for a 10-15 kts. wind.  Seas will run around 3 feet.  The rip current risk should be moderate, especially on east facing beaches.

NEXT WEEK: The classic summer pattern!  Each day will be partly sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.  Afternoon and evening thunderstorms will develop each day.  Rain chance is 20%-30% each day.  Lows will mostly be in the low 70s.

TROPICS: The National Hurricane Center is not monitoring any systems in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea or the Atlantic Ocean at this time.
