WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The producers of Max Steel have donated $10,000 to the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority's CFPUA Assist program.

Film crews used CFPUA's Sweeny Water Treatment Plant for 5 days during a movie shoot and instead of paying CFPUA a location fee, the authority requested a donation to their Assist program.

The CFPUA Assist program is a partnership with the United Way of the Cape Fear Area that provides aid to those in the community with financial struggles.

"We wanted to help our customers, as well as support the local economy," said Jim Flechtner, CFPUA Executive Director. "We're grateful to the producers of Max Steel for their generous donation. It will go a long way to assisting people in need of a helping hand."
