WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department are searching for the suspect that robbed a taxi driver late Wednesday night.

According to police, the suspect called Yellow Cab and asked to be picked up from James A. Walker Apartments off Rankin Street around 11 p.m.

Once the taxi driver picked up the suspect, he asked to be taken to Mugsy's Pub. After dropping him off, the suspect called back 20 minutes later and wanted to go to the Barbary Coast.

The suspect stayed inside the bar for a few minutes then came back outside and got back into the taxi. The suspect then asked to be taken to an area on 18th Street and Nun Street.

When they arrived, the suspect asked if the taxi driver had change for a $50. The driver said yes and pulled out his money and that's when the suspect grabbed the money and took off on foot.

Police are searching for a 30-35 year-old black male, 6'2", and around 180-190 pounds.

If you have any information, please contact the Wilmington Police Department.
