Officers charge two suspects on moped for breaking into vehicles

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officers arrested two suspects after finding them breaking into vehicles around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, an officer was patrolling the 2500 block of Royal Palm Ln. when he saw a red moped with two occupants. The officer pulled over and found out that the suspects were breaking into vehicles in the area.

Police arrested 18-year-old Adam Cottle and 18-year-old Tyler Sumrell and charged them with breaking or entering motor vehicles and possession of burglary tools. Sumrell was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Cottle and Sumrell are currently in the New Hanover County Jail under a $2,000 secured bond.
