Man arrested after police chase leads to massive drug bust

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

According to the Wilmington Police Department, 30-year-old Kristopher Owen Daniels was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of a firearm by felon.

Officers responded to a call of a disturbance at the 100 block of N. 30 Street when they found Owens with a gun. He began to run on foot.

Owens got caught in a fence and officers asked him to drop his gun several times. He dropped his gun and then reached into his back pocket and dropped 24 grams of crack cocaine.

Officers on the scene said they were able to negotiate with the suspect in a deadly situation and no one was hurt.

Daniels is in the New Hanover County Jail on an $85,500 secured bond.
